FIFTY-fifty, 1991

The installation is part of a travelling exhibition in: 8 x 2 aus 7, Steirischer Herbst, Neue Galerie am Landesmuseum Johanneum, Graz/a; Aargauer Kunsthaus Aarau/ch, Manes House City Gallery of Prague/cs and Specks Hof Leipzig/d. FIFTY-fifty investigates the postulate of equality (European situation after the fall of the Berlin wall 1989) over four exhibitions in four different places. For each exhibition venue, the artists proposed different elements organised around the writing FIFTY-fifty

Installation at the Aargauer Kunsthaus Aarau: Wine glasses - silkscreened with the letters FIFTY-fifty - on pedestals, mural writings DIE KLARE LINIE (the clear line) and the DIE MITTLERE LINIE DER UNZUFRIEDENHEIT (the middle line of discontent) at the beginning of two red lines. At the very end of the installation, a photograph shows the artists carry a banner which says in yellow letters on green fabric: The wrong work at the wrong time for the wrong place. They carry the banner along the town’s main shopping street, so as to document the disinterest of the public.
